Leon Tsoukernik’s name was for many years associated with his gambling empire. But his nature as a gambler is far from limited to business; he also plays the high-stakes game of art collecting. The exhibition The Player showcases the top pieces from Tsoukernik’s collection, featuring works from Jan Zrzavý and Emil Filla, Josef Lada, Alfons Mucha, Josef Čapek, to Henri Matisse, Auguste Renoir, and Fernand Léger. His collection also includes star artists like Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor, and a portion of Tsoukernik’s collection is dedicated to contemporary art, even the very latest.
The exhibition has been extended until Sunday, December 15th (you can now visit the gallery throughout the week, including newly opened Sundays).
In connection with the exhibition and its launch during PAW24, a podcast was created featuring Valérie Horvath, head of the art division at J&T Bank. In the podcast, she delves into the background of the Tsoukernik collection exhibition, addresses questions about the J&T Banka Art Index, and explains the bank’s motivations for producing its own art-focused projects.
