The Fotograf Festival, taking place from October 3 to November 3, 2024, in Prague, is in its fourteenth edition, subtitled “Make Voices be Heard.” It focuses primarily on the voices of female and male artists from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, aiming to expand the existing international discourse on colonialism, postcolonialism, and discrimination by incorporating perspectives from these regions.
The 23rd edition of the International Festival of Animated Film and Contemporary Art, PAF Olomouc, will take place from December 5 to 8, 2024. This year’s theme is “Diaries.” These can take the form of stories or notes, intended to invest in self-reflection, unintended consequences of time spent on social media, or any other forms of repetitive recording. All these forms of documentation raise the question—are diaries meant to be read?
Last but not least, Vienna Art Week, subtitled “Facing Time,” will be held from November 8 to 15. The anniversary edition presents more than 100 high-quality, free-entry events that emphasize Vienna’s dynamic and diverse art scene. The festival’s programming is complemented and enriched by diverse contributions from around 70 program partners. A rich program includes exhibitions in galleries, art installations, special events, and the opportunity to meet leading artists and curators. As part of VAW, there is also an artist residency for the French artist Nepheli Barbas, who is based in Prague. This festival covers a wide range of artistic media, including visual arts, sculpture, and new media, providing a platform for discussions about current trends in art.
Wherever your steps may lead, all three festivals represent a unique opportunity to experience art up close, discover new talents, and enjoy an inspiring atmosphere.
