The House is an artistic hub and creative space located in a modernist villa. It serves as a temporary home for eleven curatorially selected residents—young and emerging artists whose practices span drawing, painting, sculpture, performance, installation, and new media. While each artist works independently, the shared and communal setting fosters the creation of unique and original works.

The second edition of the exhibition project Young Selection builds on its successful debut in 2024 and once again brings a breath of fresh air to the world of contemporary art. The main aim of the exhibition is to discover and present the youngest creative talents—artists who are not yet represented in galleries and have not had the opportunity to exhibit in major institutions. This year ten exceptional artists have been selected by an expert committee composed of representatives from the festival’s partners and organizers. Young Selection 02 offers an authentic view of the freshest talent the contemporary art scene has to offer.

The exhibition will run from 25 to 28 September in the newly renovated premises of The House. This extraordinary art hub in a functionalist villa in Prague 6 has been generously provided to the festival by the foundation of the same name.

Quote from Eva Vele:

“The Young Selection section of Prague Art Week is one of the key platforms where visitors can get to know the voices of emerging artists working in the Czech Republic—at the very moment when their artistic stances and visual strategies are taking shape. This year’s selection of artists reflects the plurality of contemporary artistic thinking, from introspective painting to object-based work to experimental, institutionally sensitive installations. As chief curator of the contemporary art gallery KodlContemporary, I see this exhibition primarily as a gesture of care for the delicate balance between the professional establishing of young artists and the preservation of a space for free self-determination in the context of the contemporary Czech cultural environment.”

Quote from Lenka Bakeš:

“Last year’s pilot edition of the Young Selection exhibition, internally referred to as YSL, was a remarkable success. It became one of the most visited events of the entire festival program, and we received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the participating artists. They were genuinely enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the opening event, during which they had the opportunity to present their work to a professional audience, including curators, gallerists, collectors, and other figures from both the local and international art scenes.

Over the course of three days, the exhibition welcomed more than four thousand visitors. Such a strong response has been a great source of motivation for me and the entire team to keep pushing forward. We believe that the second edition, YSL 02, will be even stronger, more refined, and more inspiring than the first. The selection of artists we curated this year together with the rest of the jury certainly reflects that.

Come and see for yourself.”

Quote from Milan Dospěl:

“The final selection for the second year of YSL suggests that it will indeed be possible to present distinctive figures who will have both a strong theme and their own artistic means to engage a wider audience. The exhibition will undoubtedly provide an opportunity for a powerful artistic dialogue among artists from various areas of contemporary art, and I am convinced that, despite the diversity of opinions among the exhibitors, the shared criteria will primarily be originality, quality, and the intensity of artistic expression.”

Quote from Kristýna Špringlová:

“On behalf of The House, I would like to express our support for all the young artists who form the core of this year’s Young Selection section of Prague Art Week. It is incredibly inspiring for me to witness their journey toward finding their own voice and visual language.

I believe that platforms like this are crucial for young artists as they offer space for authenticity, experimentation, and free exploration—without having to conform to market expectations. Supporting young art is both a joy and a natural commitment for me because art opens up our sensitivity and ability to see the world through someone else’s eyes.”
