Romanian Art in Bold Gallery<\/a><\/p>\n

The exhibition K2: RADU B\u0102IE\u015e & LAURENTIU ZB\u00ceRCEA presents artists of the so-called Cluj School of painting. This term describes art that comes from one of the artistic centres of Eastern Europe, namely post-communist Romania. In the Bold Gallery you can see the works of two representatives of this school, who are proof that the Cluj School has its rightful place in the history of art, which for a long time was mainly focused on the West. The artists are characterised by an interesting concept of the figure, which is set in a melancholic environment. Although they are united by similar themes, be convinced of their strong individual approaches, which complement each other and exist in dialogue. The exhibition is curated by art historian Jan Kudrna and Bogdan Iacob, professor of art history at the University of Art and Design in Cluj.<\/p>\n

Pre-auction exhibition in Kodl Gallery<\/a><\/p>\n

This pre-auction exhibition of artworks presents a collection of fine art spanning the 19th and 20th centuries with an overlap into contemporary work until 25 May. Surrealist oils by Emil Filla, a rediscovered early canvas by Jan Zrzav\u00fd, and a previously unknown painting by Toyen will also be featured. The gallery’s pre-auction exhibition features dozens of artists from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to contemporary artists such as Rudolf Burda, Michal Cimala, Ji\u0159\u00ed \u010cernick\u00fd, Ji\u0159\u00ed Georg Dokoupil, Martin Janeck\u00fd, Jan Kal\u00e1b, Ji\u0159\u00ed Kalo\u010d, Adam Ka\u0161par, Luk\u00e1\u0161 Nov\u00e1k, Pasta Oner, Jan Pi\u0161t\u011bk, Jaroslav R\u00f3na, Ji\u0159\u00ed Sopko, Michal \u0160kapa, Ji\u0159\u00ed \u0160toura\u010d and \u0160tefan T\u00f3th. The entire collection is also complemented by items that will be auctioned as part of the charity part of the auction. Those interested in contemporary art can support the non-profit organisation Centrum Paraple and at the same time acquire paintings by Jan H\u00edsko, \u0160arka Koudelov\u00e1, Jakub Matu\u0161ka (Masker), Michal Mr\u00e1z, Ji\u0159\u00ed Petrboek, Rony Plesl, Jakub \u0160pa\u0148hel or Monika \u017d\u00e1kov\u00e1.<\/p>\n

The auction will take place on 26 May at 12 noon at \u017dof\u00edn in Prague and bidders will also have the opportunity to bid online at the auction portal Artslimit.com.<\/p>\n

Group therapy in the Stone Bell House<\/a><\/p>\n

Until August, you can visit the contemporary art exhibition Group Therapy at the Prague City Gallery, a dialogue and confrontation of artworks from the growing collections of GHMP and Deutsche Telekom. The media and thematically diverse exhibition, comprising approximately 80 artworks, thus reflects the current challenges and crises of today with its diversity. The selection of works, curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher, focuses on the level of reflecting social problems without neglecting their aesthetic level. The local specificity of the Art Collection Telekom is also important for the collection, as it brings together a body of works from the territory that used to belong to the Eastern Bloc and thus also provides a reflection on a territory that is important to address, especially in the context of the current situation. In dialogue with the GHMP’s acquisitions, the works in the exhibition are grouped under headings that touch on themes such as authoritarian power and authoritarian regimes, the threat to democracy, the political dimension of the climate crisis, as well as war and threat. The artists reflect on these themes through visual art in the Group Therapy, so that you can journey with them to the urgent levels of the present.<\/p>\n
