Eight visual artists have created a unique collection of works inspired by an expedition to the Congo, which took place in September 2024 under the patronage of the Save Elephants organization. The opening will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 7 PM. In collaboration with KodlContemporary, the artworks will be showcased at the pre-auction exhibition of the online auction Artslimit from March 3 to March 21 in the Operational Building B of the National Theatre (V\u00e1clav Havel Square). The exhibition space will be open to the public Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM.<\/p>\n
Artists Al\u017eb\u011bta Josefy, Adam Ka\u0161par, Mark\u00e9ta Kol\u00e1\u0159ov\u00e1, Patrik Kri\u0161\u0161\u00e1k, Laura Limbourg, Martin Salajka, Vladim\u00edr V\u00e9la, and Jan Vytiska have captured the rich experiences of the journey in a series of unique paintings. These works reflect life in the Congo, explore the balance between humans and nature, and highlight themes of wildlife conservation. Each artist interprets these topics through their own artistic style and perspective.<\/p>\n
As part of the accompanying program, guided tours and discussions with expedition participants are planned for March 13. The individual artworks will be available in the online auction on the Artslimit platform, starting on March 3 and running until Sunday, March 23.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe proceeds from the auction will primarily be used to create a new documentary film aimed at raising awareness among the Czech public about the possible extinction of elephants and motivating them to engage in their protection,\u201d says Luk\u00e1\u0161 Hodis, the film\u2019s producer and organizer of the artistic expedition.<\/p>\n
