Already in last year\u2019s episode, listeners could learn what Art Index is, how it works, and where to find it \u2013 and for artists, how to become part of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cArt Index is a ranking of one hundred artists whom the professional community evaluates as the most visible. Art Index Pop-up then presents a portion of them \u2013 this year, half of the list,\u201d explains Val\u00e9rie Horv\u00e1th. \u201cAt the same time, the exhibiting artists are curatorially selected so that the line-up changes and new names are introduced.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Art Index Pop-up showcases two hundred works, all of which are also available for purchase \u2013 directly at the exhibition and in a very accessible format. Art Index serves as a mediator between the artist and the buyer, without claiming any commission. <\/span>The exhibition takes place once every two years, each time in a different location. \u201cWe try to find a space that people know and walk past, but often haven\u2019t had the chance to enter. We are also looking for the genius loci,\u201d<\/em> adds Horv\u00e1th.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, Art Index Pop-up takes place at Bellevue Palace, a beautiful neo-Renaissance building on Smetanovo n\u00e1b\u0159e\u017e\u00ed with a fascinating history. In the past, it hosted the studio of Oskar Kokoschka, who painted his famous views of Prague from here, and later it was also used by Ji\u0159\u00ed Trnka.<\/span><\/p>\n
