PRAGUE HAS ITS ART WEEK!

PRAGUE ART WEEK 22 will present the best of the programme of Prague’s leading museums and galleries over seven days from 9 to 15 September 2022. The festival will offer the general public dozens of openings and exhibitions, as well as a thematic educational programme with the participation of prominent personalities from the Czech Republic and abroad.

#Savethedate! The first annual international art show PRAGUE ART WEEK 22 will take place over seven days from 9 to 15 September in Prague.

“Prague is home to a large number of great artists, there are artists’ studios all over the metropolis, the city is interwoven with a network of small galleries and off-space spaces, and there are several large institutions representing the best of art history and contemporary art in the very centre. Throughout the year in Prague, you can also visit various art festivals, but one common event has been missing. I believe that Art Week is exactly the format that will connect Prague’s art scene and put Prague on the art world map,” says Lenka Bakešová, the festival’s director.

#Highlights

The opening of the festival will take place on Friday 9 September on the piazzetta of the National Theatre, where the competition for the best NFT will also be announced, organised by the Artefin Gallery. On the second weekend in September, the doors of major art institutions, galleries, private collections and art studios across Prague will open for free. In addition, during Saturday and Sunday, visitors to the National Gallery Prague, the Prague City Gallery, Kunsthalle Praha, Kampa Museum, DOX, Rudolfinum and others can look forward to special accompanying programmes to the exhibitions.

Visitors to the festival will also have the opportunity to see, for example, for the very first time, an exhibition partly conceived from the private Havrlant Art Collection, which focuses on progressive art from the Eastern European region and young Czech artists.  Visitors can also look forward to open art studios and various accompanying programmes through thematic and educational programmes, screenings, performances and in the Superstudio on the New Stage of the National Theatre.

The PAW 22 festival will be held during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, under the auspices of the Minister for European Affairs doc. Mikuláš Bek, PhD and the Minister of Culture Mgr. Martin Baxa.
