PROGRAM
The conference will feature two expert panel discussions followed by a practical workshop. Its aim is to bring together perspectives from public administration, cultural institutions, artists, architects and private investors, and to open a discussion about the future of art in public space.
PANEL I
Art for the City, Art for Life
What role does art play in shaping the cities we want to live in? How are high-quality projects in public space created, and what conditions are essential for their successful realization?
The panel will focus on the importance of art in public space, examples of good practice from the Czech Republic and abroad, the selection of locations for artistic interventions, temporary and permanent installations, and collaboration between cities, cultural institutions, architects and artists in enhancing the quality of public space.
PANEL II
Private Investors and Art in Public Space
What role can developers and private investors play in creating high-quality public spaces? How can art be naturally integrated into new developments, and which approaches have proven successful in the Czech Republic and abroad?
The discussion will present inspiring projects and experiences with selecting artworks, collaboration between architects, investors and artists, as well as questions concerning the long-term care and maintenance of artworks within development projects.
WORKSHOP
How to Select Art for Public Space
This practical workshop will share experience with preparing and organizing art competitions, assembling expert juries, developing competition briefs, and fostering cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Participants will gain practical recommendations and examples of good practice that can be applied when preparing their own projects.
