Open Call for Artists: Vinohradská 8 Comes to Life Through Art

Penta Real Estate, in collaboration with PSN, announces an open art competition for the design of an artwork for a new public space in the center of Prague. The subject of the competition is the proposal of an artwork to be placed in the public space between the future office building Vinohradská 8 and the existing Vinohradská 10 building (“Unimex”).

The project also includes the creation of a new pedestrian passage through the urban block, connecting Římská, Vinohradská, and Rubešova streets. This will form a new urban link with the potential for active public use. The aim is to highlight the entrance to the inner courtyard, activate the main public space in front of the administrative building, and attract the attention of its visitors.

The competition is organized in two phases. The first phase is open to all applicants who submit an application by May 3, 2026. Participants will then submit a concept proposal in the form of a short text and visual presentation (libretto). Based on these submissions, the jury will select 5 to 8 participants to advance to the second phase. This phase includes a mandatory interim consultation on July 28, 2026, followed by the submission of the final proposal and its presentation to the jury. The winning design will be selected from these final projects. All conditions, estimated costs, and further details can be found on the Penta Art website in the attached documents.

The theme of the competition is open, and the choice of approach is entirely up to the artists. Inspiration may be drawn from the history of the site, its current condition, the broader urban context, or the dynamics of city life.

The artworks will be selected by a jury composed of representatives of both organizing entities and Prague 2 district, as well as art professionals including Marie Foltýnová, Dušan Záhoranský, Jana Bernatová, Jakub Klaška, and Emma Hanzlíková.
