PAW | BOOK LAUNCH: Three Perspectives on a Single Work – Lukáš Hofmann – Sospiri
On the occasion of the book launch for Three Perspectives on a Single Work: Lukáš Hofmann: Sospiri, there will be a discussion between artist Lukáš Hofmann and Michal Novotný, director of the Post-1945 Art Collection.
The second volume of the series Three Perspectives on a Single Work brings together essays by renowned theorists responding to Lukáš Hofmann’s work Sospiri. The work is a recording of his performance at the Trade Fair Palace in 2018 as part of his participation in the Jindřich Chalupecký Award and was included in the Magnus Art collection donated to the NGP by JT Bank.
Fiontan Moran of Tate Modern describes the evolution of performance art from its original emphasis on authentic experience to the staged theatrical works of recent years. Alice Koubová focuses on the social aspect of performance as a means of building community. Ivan Foletti examines the various “renaissances” and imaginings of the Middle Ages throughout history, as well as their relationship to the medieval costumes that Hofmann uses.
The exhibition and bookstore will be open until 7:00 p.m.
